I’m happy enough to step barefoot into snow briefly as per #2, and I sometimes use outside temperatures to cool food enough to put in the fridge. I just did that, and stepped outside to collect a few containers. I put some pants on because I have neighbours. And so I could take a modest photo. I prefer 💯 % Cotton, as I think polyester feels like wearing plastic trash bag, so 0% polyester works for me. That said, I find that up to 15% polyester is barely perceptible, so I can live with that if I really love the color, and the price is great. A high end sweat shirt is essentially a cotton polyester blend. The better fabrics will be knitted in what is called a double knit. The cotton face and the polyester back. The back is then brushed to get the soft fuzzy feel. A typical heavy weight sweat shirt would be ideally 280 grams per square meter, although many specialized manufacturers with niche markets go as high as 420 grams /square meter in fabric weight.
280 gsm fabric is good for hoodies and sweatshirts and if you are looking to make sweat pants then 320 gsm would be sufficient. You vary the insulate value of the layers depending on the temperature. Typically it is base layer + clothing layer +midlayer + outer layer. In the coldest weather I will wear merino baselayers (200 gsm), a fleece or wool midlayer (maybe both) and then an insulated jacket/parka depending on the temperature. If I am going to work usually the merino base layers + a wool roll neck sweater and then the down or synthetic outer layer. Usually a heavier jacket/parka for this. if I am outside working at -30 C and colder it is a 400 gsm merino baselayer, a 200 weight fleece, a 4 ply Dachstein wool sweater and then a light down-filled shirt jacket. if I’m out all day I’ll have a heavier insulated parka handy if I stop moving or am doing low effort activities. So it is usually 3 to 4 layers which vary in how warm they are depending on the temperature and how long I will be out in the elements. Thank you. And as a request, from one bird lover to (i guess) another, please consider not caging a bird, or atleast have a big, respectable pen instead where they can at least learn to open their wings. Also if you finally decide to just care for any type of bird, please consider adopting one, instead of buying one. Buying sustains a money-minded, unkempt, unhygienic, unsupervised by a vet- industry that has a total discard for the animal’s welfare and forces them to breed cycle after cycle. (just google Backyard breeders if you don’t follow). Basic black is always safe and in this case looks good with the black in her dress. But, I prefer color and the next picture this woman did it with silver heels. I believe this woman is wearing silver to match the silver in her handbag. I had to put her in because I think she’s so beautiful. She almost doesn’t look real.
